Chroust, Karel ; Turková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
The diploma thesis "Paid content of the Internet mutation of the sports newspaper Sport - a case study" deals with paid content on the Internet mutation of the Sports newspaper. Paid content has been booming in recent years, and more and more readers are willing to pay for quality news. The work provides a comprehensive description of the form of paid content on a narrowly specialized sports medium. The practical part consists of the main research question "What form does paid content take on a specialized medium?" In my opinion, for quality paid content, the following trinity is required to work together - content, editors, subscribers. In my thesis, I will focus on the first two areas - content and editorial. First, I will conduct a quantitative content analysis of articles that have been published in premium content. I will answer a series of secondary research questions through quantitative content analysis. This will give me enough information about the form of the content. However, since the editorial information cannot be found, I will interview them to find out what benefits this content brings them.

Pavlović, Martin ; Klimeš, David (advisor) ; Shavit, Anna (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the trend of direct monetization of digital newspaper content. At the beggining, it examines the development of monetizing and puts it in the context of media market transformations after the mass expansion of internet connection. Subsequently it explores other reasons that lead to the surge of paywalls, analyses particular approaches to direct monetization and discusses some aspects which affect the overall success of imposing fees. The theoretical part is concluded with a discussion about several problematic sides of direct monetization and defining some elemental techniques which publishers use to attract new subscribers. The practical part provides an analysis of digital subscription offers in selected Czech media and marketing activities which they use to support sales. Followingly, the work elaborates on its own survey which focused on attitudes of Czech readers towards paid internet content and their preferences regarding particular offers, such as price level or periodicity of subscription payments. As a part of the practical section, three interviews with media representatives were conducted and the acquired findings are used throughout the thesis.

This Master's thesis examines the sharing of articles of printed newspapers - Hospodářské noviny and Mladá fronta DNES - on their respective websites. Firstly, research of scientific papers presents how foreign newpapers deal with digitalization and which models of sharing and paid content they apply. Using quantitative analysis this thesis examines, which of the two newspapers shares more free articles on-line (Mladá Fronta DNES on the server iDNES.cz and Hospodářské noviny on iHNed.cz and Aktuálně.cz). The quantitative analysis compares the content of the National news section in January 2015 and January 2016, so it also observes the development of the respective article-sharing policies over time. The hypothesis is that Hospodářské noviny share more free articles than Mladá fronta DNES. The reason is that Hospodářské noviny have a single editorial office for their printed and online articles. More details regarding the policies of paid content are provided through semi-structured interviews with representatives of the respective publishing houses. This Master's thesis also presents the advantages and disadvantages of single and separate editorial offices (newsrooms for printed and online articles), describes the processes of article- sharing, illustrates business models that the publishing...
